The Kitchen Counter Cooking School

Ah! This little book! If you’ve ever read A Homemade Life (and died!) or My Life in France (eyes rolling back into head!) or even Julie & Julia (sigh!) or if you just love to cook, or maybe just eat, you should read this book.  Le Cordon Bleu graduate, Kathleen Flinn realizes (after voyeuring a random woman in her local supermarket) that many people don’t know how to cook, which directly impacts their ability to eat good, healthy food. The Kitchen Counter Cooking School is a non-fiction book about nine, self-declared “poor cooks” who learn the basics (plus some!) of cooking and trade in their can-openers for chef’s knives with great success. This is a darling, nugget of a book that will make you salivate and want to race out to the store, buy a whole chicken and get after it!
